Sunday, July 23
15:00 Second Annual Meet and Greet – This is a Sunday Afternoon Social event, an opportunity to get to know each other better, and renew old friendships. At 3:00 PM a few of our sponsors will be making brief educational presentations. One is about fire safety and using fire extinquishers on board our aircraft. After that it will be an chance to chat with each other and with many of our sponsors without whose commitment to Cherokees to Oshkosh, our costs would be significantly higher, and for some prohibitive. This is an important time to thank our sponsors while having a beer, soda (pop if you are from the upper Mid-West), and snacks. This event has received rave reviews from both sponsors and participants. 

Optional dinner: Following the afternoon activity we many of the participants will be going to the Mineshaft for dinner. (Note this dinner is not included in your registration fee and is to be ordered off of the menu). A large number of participants ended up at the Mineshaft in 2022 and we had a great evening. There are lots of games for kids of all ages.

 

CtO Mini-Clinic Schedule
Mini-clinics are held in the early part of each year, up through the early summer.  Attending at least one during this time is MANDATORY, including for returning CtO pilots. Clinics typically run from Friday afternoon until mid-day Sunday, with most essential activities happening all day Saturday. Although full participation for the entire event is always best, it is MANDATORY pilots be present at the start of the briefing Friday afternoon (typically 3PM) and fully participate until they are sufficiently qualified for the arrival – typically by mid-day Sunday.
 
Mini-clinics are a substantial investment in time, Avgas, and energy for trainees and safety pilots alike. Our training is resource-intensive and requires right-seat safety pilots and experienced Lead pilots for the first several flights of all pilots new to CtO. Because of this pilots registered for the Mass Arrival will be given priority for training. It is ESSENTIAL people arrive on time and ready to optimize the limited flying time available. To participate, ALL pilots, including returning CtO participants, must:
  • Complete and upload all required registration documents, including a pilot’s license, a copy of current Aircraft Liability Insurance, current Medical/Basic Med Certificate, and sign (online) the liability waiver
  • Complete ALL online training found under Documents/CtO Training Resources BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE MINI-CLINIC. New pilots MUST have either watched all videos (preferred) or have thoroughly studied the slides, including the Notes, for those videos. Returning pilots must have at least reviewed the slides. If you didn’t do this PRIOR TO ARRIVAL, you can’t participate.
  • Arrive by Friday afternoon early enough to attend a 3:00 PM briefing and depart no sooner than the end of scheduled flying Sunday
  • Have and maintain a “team player” approach to the training, start to finish
  • ANY exceptions to the above MUST be pre-approved by the mini-clinic host in coordination with the Director of Air Operations
 
We welcome pilots interested in “checking things out” to join us at any mini-clinic as an observer. Registration for the Mass Arrival is not required but participation will be limited to right-seat observation only, unless, at the discretion of the mini-clinic host, sufficient resources are available to offer training AND the pilot has reviewed the online training described above prior to flying.  If you wish to observe without registering for the CtO arrival, please email the Director of Flight Operations to arrange this. 
 
What if I register for a Mini-Clinic and cannot attend?

If you cannot attend a Mini-Clinic for which you registered, please use the contact form to notify the host as soon as possible.

The host makes available his three beachfront rental homes located 2 miles from airport for the group (up to 25 rooms based on prior rental bookings) and arranges ground transportation.

June 23-25, 2023 Anderson, IN, KAID. Host: Dave Peter
KAID has 2 crew cars and a Passenger Van for transportation. KAID has both self serve and fuel trucks and ramp parking close to the FBO. KAID is home to the ATP Flight School, Indy Air Sales, Anderson Aircraft Service, MJ Aircraft Interiors, and Tom Wood Avionics. Anderson has several other interests so there is plenty to do if there is a desire to do so (contact the host for more details) First briefing and flight is at 3:00  PM local on Friday (earlier if there are enough participants) with the main briefing at 3:00 PM local on Friday. The host will be available all-day Friday. The Holiday Inn Express has a block of King and double Queen rooms for $160/night for Cherokees to Oshkosh, call 765-779-0111 to make reservations. Anderson has many hotels close to the I69/Ind109 intersection so feel free to find other accommodations if you wish. Mounds State Park is next to KAID if you wish to camp (reservations are recommended).
